Tis the Season To Get Married

TIS THE SEASON TO GET MARRIED, FaLaLaLALALAAAA. Hi dolls! Welcome to ANOTHER piece from the Bridal Collection – the Christmas Wedding Edit! Hopefully you’re not getting tired of the wedding related content, because I’m just getting warmed up! (Pun intended! It’s cold as shit outside.)

SO. I’ve mentioned this before but I’ll say it again for the sake of relevance… my original wedding date was set for December 5th of 2020. THAT plan was changed in August of 2020 after realizing the end of the pandemic was definitely not coming anytime soon. The restrictions that were in place for gatherings were a little too stringent (for a good reason, obviously), & I didn’t want my wedding day to be a toned down version of what we envisioned. Subsequently, we rescheduled to September 2021, with fingers crossed that everything would come together, & we could celebrate with all our loved ones in full capacity. In spite of the chaotic year that 2020 turned out to be, our wedding went off without a hitch; the day could not have been more perfect.

BUT – I initially chose December 5th for a few reasons:

1.) It’s not hot outside. The idea of wearing a heavy ass dress all day long in the middle of the summertime never appealed to me. Plus, my hair will turn into ringlet curls the minute any humidity so much as TOUCHES it, & I did not want to spend hours getting ready just to step outside & watch it go to shit. Same goes for makeup.
2.) Everyone has their wedding during what is considered “wedding peak season”. Which is May through beginning of October. Off peak dates start end of October & run through April. If you choose an off peak date, it’s more likely to be available, & it’ll be even more likely that you won’t be scheduling on the same day as another friend/family member. FURTHERMORE, as an FYI just in case you’re new to the wedding planning game.. venues charge less for these dates. That probably should’ve been mentioned first, but oh well.
3.) There’s a chance of snow being on the ground/falling, which would undoubtedly make for an amazing photo backdrop. Wedding pictures would look like something off the damn Hallmark channel.
4.) Being that the wedding was scheduled for the very beginning of December, there’s no chance of screwing up anyone’s holiday/travel plans. Additionally, I think people tend to stay home more often when it’s cold outside, so an early December wedding gives them a nice little night out before the craziness of the holiday season really sets in.
5.) Since it’s so close to Christmastime, you have the BEST decorations at your disposal & a million different color schemes you can choose from!

When we set the December date, homegirl ran WILD. I planned out a full Christmas/holiday/winter wonderland wedding & I was SO EXCITED to see it all come together the day of. Consequently, when the entire shindig was moved to September, it took some hardcore brainstorming to figure out how I was going to tie the Christmas theme in with (what was now) early autumn. I loved what ultimately came to be.. nevertheless, I still absolutely love the idea of a holiday wedding. Moreover, I still have all the leftover plan remnants with no where to put them…until now.

Here’s the Christmas wedding edit, complete with original links, photo inspiration, & my psychobabble… all tied up with strings, that I put together back in early 2020f or my own wedding design. I hope all you bridal belles find some gems to take for your very own Christmas nuptials! Tis the season to get married – let’s make it merry, baby!

WEDDING COLOR PALETTE

While the red & green color variations that are synonymous with Christmastime remain lovely options, silver & gold strike an elegant & timeless holiday appeal… maybe because it’s hard to say “silver and gold” without hearing Burl Ives singing the words in your head. You can’t get more Christmas-y than that. Silver & gold color palettessss – on everrryyy Christmas treeeeee. *I kept this color combo for the fall wedding too!

*I couldn’t find a picture showing exactly what I had in mind for place cards, so I’ve listed the components & elaborate.. my thought was to have a Christmas tree assembled in the entryway, decorated with ornaments that have each guest’s name & table number printed on them. The ornaments would double as both a place card, & a wedding favor!

* Acrylic Ornaments Amazon ($13.45)
* Glass OrnamentsAmazon ($31.99)

CENTERPIECES

<- THIS was my original inspiration for my centerpieces.

I LOVED the idea of doing a little mini decorated tree at each table. I seriously could not for the life of me locate a small fir tree ANYWHERE that fit the description/was affordable. I wound up purchasing a bunch of small acrylic Christmas trees & put together a different idea.

<- THIS is the centerpiece that I came up with (two different styles). Where to find everything shown:

* Acrylic Christmas TreeAmazon ($19.95)
* Mini Christmas Trees (46 pc)Amazon ($14.99)
* Wood Pallet PlaqueAmazon ($5.95)
* Mini Ornaments (34 ct)Amazon ($8.49)
* Wood Rounds (20 ct)Amazon ($15.99)
* Chalk PaintAmazon ($9.59)
* Wood Burning Kit – Amazon ($17.49)
* Glass Fish BowlDollar Tree ($1.00)

+ To add a little personal touch – I painted the top of each wood round with chalk paint, & after it dried, used the wood burning tool to burn our initials into each one.
+ To personalize the centerpiece further.. I chose a photo of my husband & I that was taken at the wedding of one of the guests who is seated at that specific table. For example, my sister & her husband were at table 2.. their centerpiece photo was a picture of Ryan & I at their wedding. I felt it was a nice little way to recognize the unions of our family & friends, & incorporate it into ours. (Here’s a link to my wedding post to see more.)

GROOM/GROOMSMEN ATTIRE

– My husband ultimately went with the classic black tux (partially because of it being fancy & partially because the second choice would’ve been way too hot for our rescheduled wedding) which we rented from Mens Wearhouse..

but for a winter wedding.. I LOVE the cable knit sweater look in the second picture! I found one on Amazon with great reviews & an awesome price tag ($42.99!) Check it out here.

BRIDESMAID DRESSES

– My girls wore the champagne gold sequin style pictured here & looked amazing! I have more pictures here if you want to get a better look. There were quite a few different necklines to choose from, so I had them pick whichever one they were most comfortable with. Take a peep at Revelry’s Sequin Collection page. (Each dress is $185.00.) The site also sells matching sequin pocket squares for the groomsmen suits! ($5.00 each!)

I’m also in love with Revelry’s velvet bridesmaid dresses (the silver dress pictured) which are the same price as the sequined styles & are VERY winter wedding-esque!

BRIDE/BRIDESMAID ACCESSORIES

My first choice was the fur wraps in the bottom photo, but I decided on flannels (fall is flannel season, obviously.) For a winter wedding, especially if you’re taking pictures outdoors, the wrap is an essential accessory because it’s going to keep you from freezing your ass off.. & it makes for an elegant picture opportunity. There’s a ton of Etsy shops that sell them, but you can also find some affordable options on Amazon (like this one!)

For custom flannels, I ordered mine through ShopatBash’s Etsy shop, & she did such a phenomenal job that I ordered another one for my sister-in-law to wear at her wedding two weeks later!

<<- HOW CUTE IS THIS THOUGH OMG.

The flannels are AWESOME quality, too..
they’re long, they’re warm, & they don’t shrink when you throw them in the wash! Worth every penny!

I hope you were able to derive some inspiration from my vision boards to use while planning your perfect Christmas wedding! Tag me in all wedding nonsense & send me pictures of your winter wonderland – I would love to see what you’ve come up with!

Also, if you’re not following me on Instagram yet.. do something about that.

Love all ya’ll bridal belles!
