Affiliate Disclaimer

To all the awesome babes (& bros) who have stumbled into/upon the shit show that is Broke Bitch Thrift:

First off, love ya’ll for your continued support. Even if you visited my page by accident or my content irritates the ever living shit out of you/you hate me, I still appreciate the click. In a world where there are so many entities fighting for your attention on a daily basis, I’m so very grateful that you gave me a even a second of your time. I do not take that lightly. In my efforts to maintain total transparency with my readers (you), I want to provide you with some information about affiliate links & ensure that you understand what type of circus I’m running around here.

I started this blog out of my love for writing, my experience with sales & retail, & my desire to at least entertain others with my content. My long term goal is to do this full-time, but in order to do that, Broke Bitch Thrift has to generate some sort of revenue. I mean, homegirl’s gotta pay for law school & all these products/outfits I post about, amiright?!

THEREFORE, one of the ways I am trying to generate revenue, is by using “affiliate links“. Here’s a simplified explanation of what those are & how this process works..

– An affiliate link is a unique URL an advertiser assigns to a specific affiliate (me)
– the link contains and records the affiliate’s (me) ID or username
– this allows the affiliate (me) to get credit for the traffic sent to the advertiser’s website.
– If a visitor clicks the affiliate link and performs the action that an advertiser pays a commission for (meaning, you buy the item I linked to on my post) the affiliate (me again) gets paid a commission.

For example, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If & when I link to Amazon in my blog posts, if you click the link & buy the item, I will take a small percentage of the sale.

****Now, here’s my pinky promise(s) to all of YOU..****

I will never, ever post a link/recommend a product that I have not used myself. Rest assured that if you choose to follow any of the affiliate links in any of my blog posts & make a purchase, the product HAS BEEN PURCHASED/USED BY ME PREVIOUSLY/I LIKED IT.

No company can buy a positive review from me if I never tried/or had a TERRIBLE experience with their product. That’s simply just not how I operate. I maintain a personal policy of always being brutally honest, no matter what, especially when someone might potentially rely on that brutal honesty to make an informed decision themselves.

– Not all links I post are monetized. I’m only an affiliate for a few advertisers, & I only applied to the companies I actually buy from. However, not all applications were approved. Some programs were closed to new affiliates. Then, there were some that told me I would have to remove the profanity from my site title before I could be accepted. As my first stance against “selling out” for money, I accepted the rejections & kept “bitch” in my site name.

Imma say it louder for the people in the back:
I will not add filter nor will I conform to any company’s “perceived” view of what is acceptable just to earn a dollar.

I will disclose in the first few paragraphs of any blog post, if that post contains affiliate links. This way, you are 100% informed at all times.

– If you do decide to click on an affiliate link & make a purchase inevitably resulting in a commission payout to yours truly..
that commission is going straight to the operation & maintenance of Broke Bitch Thrift & BrokeBitchThrift.com, & I GREATLY appreciate it. However, there is zero obligation to click any of the links, monetized or not. Live your life, booboo. This is a pressure free zone.
