Over the years I’ve developed quite the collection of band/musician tee shirts & sweatshirts. Some of them I bought from retailers, but the vast majority of them I got at concerts as a keepsake. I have a tee that dates back to my first show – when I saw Green Day at Giants Stadium in 2005. More recently, I have a Dropkick Murphys tee from one of their St. Patrick’s Day shows in Boston. I still wear them all either to bed or to run errands, & each time I throw one on, it brings me back to the memory of the day I saw them, who I was with, & how much fun it was. I became determined to recycle these pieces of nostalgia into something a little more stylish – Welcome to the Band Tee Edit!

Some I cut into cropped tees for the summer time & still wear them to go out, others are beat up & old so they’ve become designated as “sleep shirts”. Regardless of the condition you find your music merchandise in, here are a few ways to revamp & wear them – instead of keeping them in the bottom of your dresser drawers collecting dust.

It was all a dream.

I never got the chance to see Biggie at a live show, but that doesn’t keep me from blasting his songs each & every time they come on my Apple Music playlist. Nor did it keep me from buying this Warhol-ish style tee as tribute to the legend.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the band tees are usually oversized even when they’re a size small – you can cut the bottom of it to make it into a crop tee, or you can tie it the bottom for a summer time style. If you’re going to cut the bottom, I’d suggest using a rotary cutter vs. regular scissors, this way you get an even cut instead of a jagged edge. That’s true band tee edit right there, ladies.

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

I started listening to Pink Floyd because my dad used to listen to them back in the day. I’ve never seen them live either unfortunately. Besides enjoying their music, I also enjoy the memory rushing back to me of being a little girl. I miss hearing heir music flowing out from my dad’s record player.

I love cropped sweatshirts for the summertime because I’m always cold. You can throw a cropped sweatshirt on with a pair of shorts & somehow maintain comfortability.

Welcome to the jungle.

I LOVE Guns N’ Roses! I got extremely lucky back in 2016 & grabbed tickets to their reunion tour (with ALL band members). My fiancé & I went to TD Garden in Boston to see them. It was honestly one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Slash was PHENOMENAL as expected. Although I expected Axl Rose to be a little worn down due to age.. he was JUST AS GOOD as he was in his prime.

The cold shoulder look is another summer time friendly style that you can pair with shorts. Probably more for the nighttime when temperatures drop. The long sleeves might be a little hot for an 80 degree day.

It’s Britney, bitch.

You can claim not to like the Queen of Pop all you want. I can personally guarantee if any of her classics started to play, you’d have a hard time not singing along. Male/female, young/old, doesn’t matter.

Britney is my spirit animal. Obviously she was going to make the band tee edit post.

Brit is on my concert bucket list, & I will see her live the next time she does a tour. I planned on seeing her in Vegas but her residency there ended right before I planned my trip. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Once tickets go back on sale again (if ever) – I’m buying ‘em.

This t-shirt is soft & it fits comfortably despite it being on the longer side. This type of tee I usually put on with leggings for a comfy style to run errands in. Whenever I wear this shirt I get a lot of compliments on it from other fans.. and that shows me that love for Britney is something we can all bond over.
